LETTER
FROM THE EDITOR
Do
you remember those good'ole sales courses? The
good thing about some of them is that they remind
us of the principles and little tricks that we
may already know. One of these principles is that
when the products you sell are not so different
than the ones your competitor sells, how do you
compete ?
I
have been thinking about this lately because for
a few of our dealers, a caster is a caster, and
I will therefore write about it in our next issue
of the LEADER.COM
This
month you can read about :
-
Jack, our ex-military purchaser, written by Luc
- One of Guitel's new plants, by Luc
- Promat 2003, written by Nancy
- What makes me dream at this time of the year
!
- What Robert's spring dream is all about
Happy
reading !

| Colleague
of the month
This
month we introduce you to the one who raises Bleutec’s
employee age average, Jacques.
Those
who know him will tell you that Jacques is unique in
his own way, and that’s just fine! Jacques has
a good sense of humour and he accepts to laugh at himself,
especially since he is often the target of his colleagues’
jokes about his old bachelor habits and his super competitive
nature – he doesn’t like to lose.
At
work, Jacques is more of the analytical type. As a result,
he is focused on rules, wants things to be thoroughly
examined, insists on details, and avoids risks. For
all of these reasons, he is competent in his job position,
and yet he is sometimes in confrontation with the sales
team. We sometimes criticise our friend Jacques, but
the whole Bleutec gang is unanimous to say that he is
a perfectionist, is conscientious, and most of all,
is tuned in to satisfy the sales team’s request,
as well as those from customers and suppliers.

for the month of April:
Opportunity

NOWHERE
NO WHERE
OR
NOW HERE
It just depends on
How you look at it!

Bleutec
at the Promat Show
In
the Leader’s last issue, we told
you about Bleutec exhibiting at Promat
in Chicago. We also mentioned that we’d
tell you about it and that we’d
have pictures for you. So here it is.
First,
let me begin by saying that I love Chicago!
It’s a great city with fabulous
architecture and super restaurants, such
as Topo Gigio’s. The weather, believe
it or not, was as cold as it is in Montreal!
As
for the show, we’re very happy because
we had a lot of familiar and new faces
stop in at our booth. Attendance was high,
(over 37,000 registrants), and we had
the opportunity to meet with large OEM’s.
All in all, we had a pretty busy show.
Finally,
we know that you know about Resilex and
its qualities. Now, the Material Handling
Industry of America is also aware because
our Resilex caster was chosen to appear
in the product spotlight of the “Show
Daily”. Looks like 2003 is going
to be a busy Bleutec year!

Coast distributor, Auggie

Golf...
Finally,
April has arrived. For most people, it’s
a sign that winter is ending and that spring is
at our door. But, for my wife and I, as well as
for some of our friends, it’s a time to
think about where in Quebec we want to go for
our annual weekend golf getaway.
This
golf weekend has been a tradition of ours for
a dozen or so years. The weekend is for relaxing,
catching up with close friends, and sitting down
to a good meal. This year, we’ve chosen
the Mauricie Bois-Francs region.
I
sincerely hope that the golf weekend continues
for years because it lets us discover the picturesque
regions of Quebec, as well as enjoy the hospitality
and professionalism of Quebec’s inns.
A weekend golf getaway is priceless, for everything
else, there’s….

Guitel
invests into the future
Guitel has equipped itself with
a modern manufacturing plant in St. Geoirs,
in the “ Grenoble “ industrial area.
This
new factory is completely dedicated to moulding,
rubber injection, and manufacturing of plastics
for the Resilex, Sandwich, and Souplex wheels.
The plant will be able to handle 1,400 tons
of plastic and 2,000 tons of rubber, nearly
double the output of the older plant.
St.
Geoirs’ plant has a 50,000 sq. ft. surface,
with the possibility of expansion in the future.
This will eventually decrease production costs
due to the reduction in handling, and therefore
improving working conditions.
All
of the above mentioned elements at the St. Geoirs
plant contribute to increased production, and
provide the key to produce tomorrow’s
wheels and casters.

| BIKE
2003
February
and March are over and April is already here.
We broke records for cold weather here this winter.
Spring has arrived and I’ve started dreaming,
as I always do at this time of year, about my
next motorcycle ride.
With
all my conversations on the subject with you guys
out there, I know we have some motorcycle maniacs
reading this. No, I don’t own a bike. I
have to rent one. Although
this is not the best way to go, it has the advantage
that I have been able to try many different types
of motorcycles throughout the years: Vulcan 1400,
BMW R1200, Ducati ST2, Honda CBR and my favorite,
the Honda ST1100….. You have probably guessed
it by now. Yes, I’m a Sport Touring fan
!
My
American cousins are always impressed when I talk
about the cost of renting a bike for a weekend
in Canada, especially in the Montreal area.
We
have a few clients that will be coming up for
a bike trip this summer. Hey, if you want to join
us, check out this Web site, www.gouletmoto.com,
and choose the bike you want to ride from the
list they have. And by the way, you can write
to me at this e-mail address, flagace@bleutec.com,
as I’ll give you an idea of the dates and
the schedule
I’m
hoping to start a new trend: “THE
ANNUAL BLEUTEC BIKE WEEK”. Join us !
