LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

We bring you a Leader that is more on the technical side this month.

In response to numerous requests from customers, we have an article about how to decode a Blickle product number. We also talk about a new cast nylon wheel that is growing in popularity because of its high weight capacity, even at a small diameter. Frederic explains the concept of the Blickle GSPO cast nylon wheel.

As usual, we introduce you to one of our distributors, and Nancy keeps you up to date on the “frequent flyer”, as well as reminding you for our upcoming show in March.

Signed,

CAST NYLON WHEELS

I use this edition of our newsletter to introduce you to what happens to be a new product at Bleutec Wheels & Casters : the Blickle GSPO wheel.

The GSPO wheel is made of a fairly new and unknown material in the wheel and caster industry in North America : CAST NYLON.

When cast nylon was explained to me by Blickle, the following words were used: High-molecular density, polymere, lactam, homogenous material, high degree of crystallisation, depressurised casting process, anionic polymerisation...

As usual, and for the purpose of this newsletter, I’ll try to be as brief and simple as I possibly can. Don’t get me wrong. We can provide all the technical information in regards to this material, but I thought that I’d share the advantages of this wheel material from a caster salesperson’s perspective, not as a chemist.

The GSPO wheel has excellent wear and abrasion resistance. Compared to injection molded nylon, the GSPO wheel stands out because of its mechanical and chemical resistance properties. It offers remarkably higher tensile, as well as more compressive and impact strength than the standard injected nylon wheel. The most significant characteristic of the cast nylon wheel is its weight capacity. For example, the 3’’ (80mm) diameter wheel is rated at 2,200 lbs (1,000 kgs). Also advantageous is the fact that it is non-marking and is much more friendly to concrete floors than a steel wheel under extreme loads.

Find more information about the GSPO wheel at the following link : link page 48

As a reference, you can compare the two following casters where we show the weight capacity diference of the same bracket assembled with two different wheels: a GSPO and a GTH wheel.

                             Weight capacity is:

 770 lbs (350 kgs)         1,540 lbs (700 kgs)

You can visit the following link to see all available GSPO wheels in our catalgue. link page 272

Don’t hesitate to drop us a line and ask us for more information about Blickle's GSPO cast nylon wheel.

How to decode Blickle product numbers

It has already been eight months since Bleutec has associated with Blickle. Within the last few weeks, we have sent out our new catalogue (Vol. 4) showing the many new Blickle casters. In order to help out with the decoding of their wheel and caster product numbers, we thought we’d write a brief article on how you can decipher a Blickle product number.

Wheels:
Each wheel series is defined by one or a combination of letters. The number that follows the letter is the diameter, the following number is the axle (bore) size, and a third number (if applicable) signifies the hub width. The letters G, R, or K at the end of the number defines the bearing type (plain, roller, or ball bearing). Any following extension with letters signifies a special version of the wheel.

Example: #SE 250/25K-SG
Wheel: SE Series = heavy duty elastic solid rubber wheel
Diameter: 250mm (10 inch)
Axle (bore) size: 25mm (1 inch)
Bearing type: K = ball bearing
Special version: SG = non-marking gray

Swivel and rigid casters:
Every product number for a swivel caster begins with the letter L, whereas every rigid caster starts with the letter B. The swivel and rigid caster numbers are also made of the wheel series number (with diameter, bearing type, and axle size). An extension with letters signifies a special version of the caster.

Example: LH SPO 125K-3-ST-FA
Rig/Fork: LH swivel heavy duty series
Wheel: SPO heavy duty nylon series
Diameter: 125mm (5 inch)
Bearing type: K = ball bearing
Plate type: 3 = Plate #3
Special version: ST = Stop Top brake
Special version: FA = Thread guard

Hope that this can help you out!

The Frequent Flyer, Part 2

You may recall the article that I wrote in November’s edition of the leader.com about Canada’s frequent flyer. If you’re as curious as I am, you may be wondering if he did attain his 1,000,000 mile objective.

Last week, I checked out his website (www. gcmr2005.blogspot.com) and, drum roll please…..he did! During the last week of November, Marc Tacchi reached his goal with a grand total of 1,003,625 Aeroplan miles. So to recap, with his Air Canada North America Unlimited Pass for a period of 2 months, he accumulated his million miles. That means he spent 56 out of 61 days sitting in a plane. Ouch!

Congratulations to Marc for his perseverance. I guess he’ll be redeeming his miles for some executive class trips to Australia, but maybe he’ll need to get the kinks out of his body from sitting in planes for 2 months before he takes this 16 hour flight!

THOUGHTFUL E-MAILS

You may very well be like most of us here at Bleutec in terms of e-mail communications: the entire team here is logged on, plugged in, and some of us are becoming e-mail freaks and pretty sharp on the "send-receive-trigger-click" keys…

This article is an introduction to a series of articles about some interesting and unexpected e-mail messages that we receive regularly. Some of these e-mails are actually good reminders about ourselves, our society, and what we tend to forget as we go about in our every day lives.

Most of what I plan to convey to you in this new series is, in many cases, from anonymous authors. I have been collecting these e-mails that get my attention and that bring new perceptions and ideas on different types of subjects. Here are a few examples of future articles to come: "The paradox of our time", "How do you react to criticism", "Are you a good tomatoe salesperson ?’’, "GM vs Microsoft", and much more.

So be on the lookout for our next editon of THE LEADER.COM as I will share my thoughtful e-mail collection.
