Reminder!!
Price increase
Effective March 15, 2005,
we unfortunately have to slightly increase our
prices. The price hikes in petroleum and steel
have had an impact on manufacturing costs, which
in turn has forced us to adjust our prices.
Our new price list will
be finished within the next few days, and you
should receive your updated price list by March
11.
We thank you for your
understanding.

Innovative
casters
True to my promise from
last month’s edition, this is the first
article of many where I plan to write about
our new line of innovative casters from our
German manufacturer, Blickle.

We’re starting with
the lightweight category…
In
the Bleutec corner, weighing
in at 0.5 lb., a height of 2 inches with a 1
5/8 inch wheel diameter, a caster that handles
a good 220 lb. weight capacity, I give you the
EXTRATHANE LPA CASTER!!!
How’s that for a
caster introduction?
In all seriousness, the
LPA caster is now available
from our inventory, and is part of our Heavy
Duty Series catalogue. As shown in our picture,
it is a small polyurethane caster equipped with
precision ball bearings. It is ideal for applications
where there is a requirement for a combination
of low load height and heavy weight capacity.
Give
us a call for a quote!

Enjoying
the winter…
The month of March has
arrived, and to the great pleasure of some,
winter is quickly passing us by. I thought I’d
take some space in our newsletter to tell you
about my winter sports.
I guess what motivated
me to write this article is that this winter
has been a wake-up call from my semi-comatose-winter
state of mind that I’ve been in since
1998. Let me explain: 1998 is the year that
my son, Guillaume, was born, and in 2001, my
second son, Oliver, was born. Our “young
parents” winters resembled that of bears
in hibernation. We were quite limited with winter
sports and outdoor physical activities over
the past 6 years.

Now that the children
are older, we’ve opted for a family sport,
alpine skiing, which has renewed my love for
winter. I've also started cross-country skiing
and snowshoeing to better appreciate the tranquility
and wonderful winter landscapes. I think that
although Quebec winters bring us cold and sometimes
miserable weather, we shouldn’t forget
that we’re lucky to have 4 seasons. Some
of our Floridian readers have openly told me
that they envy us “Notherners” for
our change of seasons.
Enjoy
the winter, while it’s still here!

| Customer
service : His way!

Here are some details to put you into the concept
of a story that happened last spring in Montreal,
and that I would like to share with you.
A
young man attends his pastry class from 8 :00
a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
After school, he goes to work from 3:30 p.m.
until 11:30 p.m., where he is a chef at a well
known hotel in downtown Montreal.
One day, after his classes
and work at around midnight, he goes to his
car and realizes that he doesn't have any gas
left. He walks back to the hotel where he borrows
a gas can so that he can get to a garage to
get gas for his car. He finally returns the
can to the hotel receptionist, who is on the
telephone and having a hard time with a hotel
guest who wants to eat a hot meal.
She
tries to explain to the guest, Paul Anka (who
wrote “My Way” which was made famous
by Elvis Presley), that it is
1:30 a.m., that the kitchens are closed, and
that there are only cold meals available. Mr.
Anka won’t hear of it. The
receptionist apologizes and hangs up the phone.
The young man asks the
receptionist what is happening, and after she
finishes explaining, he tells her to call Mr.
Anka and ask him what he’d like to eat.
Simon puts his uniform back on, opens the kitchen,
and prepares the songwriter his dish. No need
to tell you that Mr. Anka was delighted with
the service and meal!
Simon
was chosen employee of the year at the hotel
and I understand why. All employers would like
to have an employee like Simon, right? I, for
one, am very lucky, as Simon is my
son.
