LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Frederic’s out of the office this week and he’s asked me to step into his editor’s shoes for this edition of the leader.com.

Here’s what you’ll find in this edition:

  • an article about Robert, our inside sales and technical support
  • Bleutec at the PMDS
  • Luc’s article about the Crisolles plant
  • the latest news about our Web site
  • Karine’s article on summer holidays
  • and finally, Frederic’s own ideas on
    idea stoppers and idea propellers

Since the editor is out of the office, I’ll let you in on one of the topics for the leader.com’s next edition: my article on F1! Yes, the F1 circus is coming to Montreal in 5 weeks, and I can’t wait!

Until next month, happy reading and enjoy the May flowers that the April showers have brought.

Happy reading !

Signed,
Nancy Allen

Colleague of the month

Most of you have spoken to Robert, or have heard of him during the past 5 years. In February 1998, Robert came back to Bleutec after working at other companies. I believe that his passion for casters never left him.

Robert, who is in internal sales, is the key person to find the solution to any rolling problem. His 2 years of hands-on experience gives him the capability to visualize the problem, and then to come up with the best solution.

Appreciated by us all, Robert takes pride in his work and he’ll always try to do the impossible to satisfy Bleutec’s customers. As our colleague, he is the one who gathers everyone together and organizes social activities for the entire Bleutec team.

Bleutec’s Web site

Check out our Web site (www.bleutec.com) to see the latest improvements we’ve made during the last few weeks. For those of you who are avid readers of the leader.com, you’ll see on the Web site’s main page a new section for the newsletter’s archives. Also, we’ve revamped the Mecanic series section in order to make it more user-friendly so that you can easily view the casters. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome because we will continuously work on the Web site to try to make it as efficient as possible for you.

We’d like to offer you the possibility of getting our Canadian and American customers to know you better. You can send us an article to be published in a future edition of the leader.com, and we can possibly put a link to your Web site from our newsletter.

As you can see, things are rolling at Bleutec!

The Crisolles Plant

Crisolles is located in Northwestern France. It is the largest amongst Guitel’s plants. Crisolles is where all the caster manufacturing comes together: Steel-cutting, stamping, plastic injection, zinc-plating, and assembly.

147 employees work out of Crisolles. The plant produces approximately 12,000 rigs (forks) a day in order to be set up with the 2 to 10 inch wheels. Also, Crisolles manufactures a wheel for MIC, casters for garbage containers, and the Gem-Roll series. Production is fully automatic, from the manufacturing of parts to the assembly of the casters, thus keeping production costs at a minimum.

Summer holidays

The Canadian geese are back and the winter coats are stored away until next winter. Surely everyone’s thinking about summer holidays and hoping that we’ll have a sunny and warm summer.

There are so many great areas of Quebec that it’s hard to decide where to go! Two years ago, I visited the Outaouais region, and the cities of Hull, Gatineau, and Ottawa. I was really impressed by the architectural differences and by the cultural mix. Also, I had the opportunity to practice my English because of the region’s bilingual and mostly anglophone population.

The Outaouais has many attractions and festivals, such as the Tulip Festival in April/May and the Hot Air Balloon Festival in August. I definitely plan on going back!

If you’d like to share your holiday memories with us and with readers of the leader.com, simply drop us a line at leader@bleutec.com.

For those of you who will be taking holidays in May, we wish you a great vacation!

For a good "Brainstorming" session

Idea stoppers:

These are all kinds of mindsets that will keep you from thinking and acting creatively. Any of these sound familiar ?

  • It's too much work.
  • We'll look silly.
  • We've never done that before.
  • It won't work here.
  • We can't afford it.
  • We'll never get it approved.
  • Be realistic.
  • It's not in the budget.
  • Naah.
  • We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
  • You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
  • That's weird.
  • It's not broken, don't fix it.

Good alternatives to idea stoppers:

  • It's OK.
  • I don't know much about that, tell me more.
  • I was not aware that….
  • What are the options ?
  • I've changed my mind since I found out that…
  • I'd like to get your help on this.
  • Let's give it a try.
  • It sounds practical.
  • Are there other ways we can do this ?
  • I've got a wild idea.
  • Could you give me some ideas for this.
  • We might want to consider….
  • What if ……..?
  • Two heads are better than one.
  • I would like to have your opinion on…
